Position
Italian Trade Business Development Manager focusing on Italian/Canadian business; candidate will be responsible for driving sales growth and revenue generation within the Italian/Canadian market. This role requires a deep understanding of the freight forwarding industry, Italian/Canadian trade regulations, and market dynamics. The individual will be tasked with identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, nurturing client relationships, and achieving sales targets.
Key Responsibilities:
Business Development:
- Identify and target prospective clients in the Italian market, including
importers, exporters, manufacturers, and distributors. - Primary focus is Italian LCL imports into Canada
- Secondary focus air imports/exports, ocean exports and customs
- Develop and implement strategic sales plans to penetrate key industry
sectors and geographic regions (Ontario/Quebec main focus). - Utilize market research and networking to generate leads and expand the
customer base.
Client Relationship Management:
- Cultivate strong relationships with existing clients and key decision-makers
within client organizations. - Understand client needs, challenges, and objectives to provide tailored
solutions and value-added services. - Act as the primary point of contact for clients, addressing inquiries,
resolving issues, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
Sales Strategy Execution:
- Prepare and deliver persuasive sales presentations, proposals, and
quotations to prospective clients. - Negotiate terms, pricing, and service agreements to secure new business
and maximize profitability. - Collaborate with internal teams, including operations, pricing, and
customer service, to ensure seamless execution of sales contracts.
Market Analysis & Reporting:
- Monitor industry trends, competitor activities, and market developments
in the Italian/Canadian freight forwarding sector. - Analyze sales performance metrics, pipeline activity, and revenue forecasts
to track progress against targets. - Provide weekly reports and updates to management on sales activities,
achievements, and challenges.
Customer Services & Support:
- Provide responsive and proactive customer support throughout the sales
process and beyond. - Address client inquiries, concerns, and feedback in a timely and
professional manner. - Work closely with Operations Teams and Customer Service to ensure
smooth onboarding of new clients and successful implementation of
services.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or College diploma in Business Administration, Sales,
Marketing, preferred - Proven track record of success in sales within the freight forwarding or logistics
industry, with a focus on the Italian market. - Good understanding of Italian/Canadian trade regulations, customs procedures ie
CETA, and logistics requirements. - Strong sales acumen, negotiation skills, and business development capabilities.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet sales targets in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in relevant software applications, such as Cargowise, CRM systems, Microsoft Office suite and Excel
- Fluency in English and Italian, additional languages (French) considered a plus.
- Travel as needed to meet with clients, attend industry events, and participate in sales meetings.
- Travel to Italy once or twice per year required
